Giesecke+Devrient (G+D) and Murata have announced the world’s first connectivity module to utilize the SGP.32 Remote SIM Provisioning (RSP) specification for integrated SIM (iSIM) technology. This solution combines Murata’s Type 2GD Cat.M1/NB-IoT connectivity module with G+D’s SGP.32-compliant SIM OS.
Designed for OEM IoT deployments, the module streamlines the provisioning and management of IoT devices. It leverages a faster and more reliable IP-based protocol to deliver SIM credentials and settings over-the-air (OTA).
Murata’s Type 2GD module incorporates an iUICC to support SGP.32 compliant iSIM applications. During production, the customer’s SIM profile and G+D’s SIM OS can be pre-loaded onto the module, simplifying device manufacturing. The iSIM provisioning solution also allows for reconfiguration after deployment, further reducing costs.
This collaboration marks a significant advancement in cellular IoT technology, offering benefits such as reduced size and complexity for deployments in various sectors, including smart cities, medical IoT, and wearable devices.
The new solution will be showcased at electronica 2024 in Munich, Germany, from November 12-15 at the Murata booth.
