Groundbreaking new 20,000-lumen 4K RGB laser projector delivers new levels of performance for immersive and experiential environments

Wiesbaden, DE — February 2026 — Panasonic Projector and Display Corporation has introduced a new standard in 1- Chip DLP projection with the PT-HTQ20, marking the company’s first 1-Chip DLP projector to support the Rec. 2020 colour gamut. Powered by Panasonic’s newly developed VIVID PRIME™ RGB laser light-source technology, the PT HTQ20 delivers 20,000 lumens of brightness and 4K resolution.

Unveiled at ISE 2026, the MEVIX PT-HTQ20 is designed to deliver the colour fidelity typically associated with 3-Chip DLP projection, without the traditional limitations of other technologies. By combining wide-gamut colour reproduction with high brightness, the projector achieves a balanced output where colour purity and luminance are maintained simultaneously — a critical requirement for immersive content.

“At Panasonic, our goal with PT-HTQ20 was to bring the visual impact of 3-Chip DLP projection into a compact and flexible 1-Chip platform, without compromise,” said Hartmut Kulessa, Head of Marketing Visual Systems at Panasonic Connect Europe. “By combining Rec. 2020 wide-gamut colour with high-speed colour switching and balanced brightness output, we’re delivering a viewing experience that feels natural, immersive and free from artefacts”

New levels of performance

At the core of the MEVIX PT-HTQ20 is Panasonic’s VIVID PRIME™ RGB laser technology, enabling more than 95% coverage of the Rec. 2020 colour space. Unlike conventional projectors that prioritise brightness at the expense of colour performance, the PT-HTQ20 delivers vivid, pure colours while maintaining consistent brightness across the image. A proprietary RGB-plus-phosphor design also ensures smooth tonal gradations when displaying standard Rec. 709 content.

VIVID PRIME™’s high-speed colour switching further enhances image quality by effectively reducing rainbow effect — a common artefact in projection that can distract viewers, particularly in immersive environments. The result is a more comfortable, fatigue-free viewing experience that supports extended dwell time in experiential spaces.

Image performance is complemented by 4K resolution delivered via Quad Pixel Drive technology, along with an enhanced Gradation Smoother that reduces colour banding and supports subtle tonal transitions in digitally created and cinematic content.

Building on the reliability of Panasonic’s DLP platform, the PT-HTQ20 inherits extensive installation flexibility and long term durability. It supports Panasonic’s D3-series projector lens lineup and mounting frames, such as those used with the PT-RQ25K. It also features proprietary circuit-board coating for improved resistance to dust and humidity and includes a mechanical shutter to protect the DMD chip during stage lighting use. A filterless design enables up to 20,000 hours of maintenance-free operation, supported by Multi-Laser Drive Engine redundancy and Backup Input for mission-critical environments.

Additional integration features include an Intel SDM-compatible expansion slot, Smart Projector Control app support, a remote preview function and Panasonic’s Visual Software Suite for simplified system management and workflow automation.

Adachi, CEO of Panasonic Projector &Display Corporation, stated: “For years, we have elevated the quality of immersive environments by delivering uncompromising brightness in a compact design, together with industry leading 4K driving technology. Now we enter the next chapter. By expanding our new core technology, VIVID PRIME™, across our model lineup, we will raise immersion to an entirely new dimension. By harnessing the full potential of Rec.2020, we aim to open

up a new market for immersive experiences and bring fresh innovation to the world of visual media.”

The PT-HTQ20 will be available from Q4 2026 and showcased on Stand 3J500 at ISE 2026, taking place at Fira de Barcelona Gran Via from February 3–6.
